What would be the recommended temperature for a low tech planted discus tank?

28-30 degrees C

You may have problems keeping any plants alive besides swords at > 80F in a low tech tank. CO2 supplementation would help plants handle discus temperatures.

80F is 26, will Discus live happilly with 26?
Will plants thrive at 28-30?

some plants will do fine at 28-30 others won't. what plants do you have?

Mine is 82 and java fern, bronze crypt, tiger lillies, swords, Italian val, anubis do just fine.

My temp is between 28-30C and have Val, java moss, swords, java fern, anubias and crypts all thriving. The only thing that seems to knock them around is salt, but they recover fairly quickly anyway.
