More to come as things progress. I haven't been down to the fish room yet this morning, but it's early in the relationships. There might be nothing more than a whole lota shakin' goin' on at this point.

My bets are on the long awaited discus spawn...and my hopes :)

Why oh why did I ever think that I could be coy about this. It's not even a spawn. It's still just obvious Discus foreplay.

What is most surprising is that it's not the older batch (They must have all been males, as hard as that seems to believe). It was their siblings in the other 100 that I thought were still too young. Apparently not...I wanted to clean them up, but I also wanted to mix some of the 2 age groups together which would take both 100's. This morning I put the pairs each in their own 40 cube and mixed the other two age groups of 6 in to two 100's.

I gave one pair it's previous breeding cone and gave the other pair a different cone. The cone they fell in love together at had the top cracked off from when it fell over and I knew that Barb didn't want to see a spawn of mine on one of her cracked cones, right out here in front of the entire Discus world. The problem became obvious by WC time this evening. Pair number one was at their cone flirting while the pair with the new cone were still moping. I changed their cones then changed their water. By the time I got done with WC on the entire fish room they were getting back in the mood around their special breeding cone.

I didn't make this up. I'd never have even mentioned it because it is so funny to me.

Before lights out, mama with the rescued cone had her lovely tube down and was making practice runs. The male was looking confused. I think he bit off more than he could chew when he hooked up with her. He had no idea that she wanted to have kids!

Apparently the deed was done and the eggs were eaten. Young males can be slow to catch on. I'll wait and see if I get some action from the other pair.
