Fresh water stingray with discus

So, I was debating mixing a 5 inch fresh water stingray in my discus display tank. Has anyone ever tried this or can tell me if this is a bad idea?

It has been done. What size is your display tank. Even the smallest rays get very large.

At the moment I have a 125 and I was going to upgrade to a 250 next year

You might be able to make it work in a 250. You'll have to try to know for sure.

If you're after some info on stingrays Google "The King of DIY freshwater stingrays" and watch some of his vids, I saw one of these freshwater stingrays in a store recently and had to know myself what was involved in keeping one, they get big !

I've seen stingrays kept with discus, but only by aquatic professionals. The key is to have a back up plan if things don't work out. If the stingray or the discus get sick, where would you move the fish? If one picks on the other, is there a back up tank? Also, stingrays are big fish and eat very meaty food. What's the water change schedule you'll have to manage? The old regime will likely not cut it. Think through the potential downsides before committing $$$.

The most beautiful thing about Rays is the way they move. You miss to much of the beauty of the fish without side glass. Now, huge plywood tank would work. If I had the money I'd try it. They are my favorite fresh water fish. It's very sexy. But they have always been just a pipe dream for me.
