Thank you for checking in with my post and will be keeping this updated as I go, so hopefully wont disapoint.

Fred
Thank you and am hoping that the way I have it set up will prove to be good. I agree with you there is a particular feeling when you take some babies and grow them and then they spawn and you get wigglers. Very satisfing.

Gotta love chubby little discus in a squeaky clean barebottom tank with oversized sponge filters. But then I'm an obsessive!

It's a great opportunity to streamline your new fishroom system before you get it loaded with fish and fully operational. Exciting times mate!

I am thrilled they are doing well in my water. I moved the 125 gallon downstairs so am moving closer to being complete down there for now. And yes, same little piglets, hehe !
Thank you for raising some fine fish.

Yeah Tom, but doing lots of wc's should be moving them into the 120 this weekend, the 12 rams have been in what almost 2 weeks now so should be ok to add them in.

I'm gonna make another pitch for the importance of large, frequent water changes to those new to the hobby. Note the appearance of the Stendker Santarems at the end of March...

Just a quick update on these.

127288
127289
127290

compared to the end of August, roughly 5 months of water changes and good feeding in a barebottom tank.

Thought I would post some pics of these, looking good I think ... still young but progressing good.

128752
128753
128754

Not only have the fish grown much bigger and developed a deep, rich hue, but look at the change in the shape of the discus. The fish are rounder and the slight puckering in the mouth area have disappeared.

How you raise discus has as much impact on their appearance as their genetics, i.e. nurture versus nature. Raise your young discus in bare bottom tanks, do lots and lots of water changes and the difference will be obvious. Kudos to Larry!

Thank you for your kind words of wisdom, you along with many others have imparted so much knowledge through Simply on how we need to be raising our fish and am grateful for your observations on my fish, appreciate it.
