Good afternoon all. I received a mix of 12 2.5” fish from Hans about 2 months ago. They’ve been great from the start and ate on the first day. They all eat whatever I throw in the tank and all but 1 are growing well. I have 1 straggler, a red scribbled, who hasn’t grown in 2 months and doesn’t show much interest in food. At feeding time he is around everyone that is eating but doesn’t go after food. I’m feeding them 5x per day and changing water daily. Is there anything to do with this 1 fish or should I just assume that if 92% are healthy I’m doing all I can do?
Thanks

Yeah, there's nothing much you could do about it. In every discus grow-out, there will be always one that lags behind in terms of growth due to being outcompeted for food or poor genetics. In the best case scenario, it might catch up to its peers as time passes. But most likely, it will stay small since it won't be able to compete with its now larger siblings.

That was my guess. Too bad too, the coloring on that one is gorgeous

For the most part no, he mostly just let’s good float by. But just now I threw in some brine shrimp to see what happens and he swam after food and ate. So I don’t know, maybe he’s just picky like my 2 yr old.

Separate the small Discus and they will grow to normal size if it's not to late.

I only have 1 tank. It doesn’t make sense to move him to a 20 gallon hospital tank by himself does it?
