If you have never had an aquarium before guppys, barbs, tetras, catfish, and are easy. I would think that almost any fish sold at Petco or Petsmart would be okay as well.

Mooreetta familiarize yourself with the nitrogen cycle as you embark on your journey into fish keeping. The invisible world of waste conversion from toxic to harmless, and how to manage waste in a close system are truly the backbone of fish keeping of any sort. Once you understand how it works and how to navigate biological & mechanic filtration, you have established a solid foundation to branch into whatever fish species you desire to attempt keeping.

Guppys are easy to raise and breed. There are some very colorful guppys. Zebra Danios, Gromies and Mollys.
