Thermostatic Mixing valve for my R.O. Water Prep

Folks,

Looking to employ a Thermo-Static Mixing Valve for my R.O. Water Prep in a bodega in my carport (so, it's subject to seasonal temp variation).

Have any of you had decent success with inexpensive units if you have hard water?

Well, I ordered one on Ebay...About $24usd. Brass w/ chrome plating. Looking to maintain water temp somewhere between 70-80 degF through my R.O. Filter. Low expectations.

My R/O system is in my basement but I am in Wisconsin...

I see a slow down in production in winter, the source water being delivered below the frost line but still quite cold. Does it really get that cold in Arizona to have a large impact?

David, how many tanks of fish are you growing out and breeding? Are you breeding fish for large production or do you just like doing at all this hard stuff for fun? You are incredibly good at doing things that I'm incapable of doing and sometimes don't fully understand. I store my water in 2 250 gallon containers and mix my RO with my tap in 55 gallon barrels. I'm sure I waste more electricity using aquarium heaters than plumbing in my gas heater and installing a mixing valve. But doing that would be over my head.

It's that I'm at elevation... about 3200 feet at my home in the Desert Hills section of Green Valley. There is no atmosphere to speak of in the winter here... so although the days are warm, the nights are very cold.

I only have a 65 gallon barrel (really about 55 gallons once you account for where you put all of your level switches and floats.) for storage. I also need to move the waste water out to my garden, so it has to be warm enough to flow down the drain for 20' of exposed nighttime temperatures.

But really, looking for anything to improve production... my water is so hard that my yield is about 4 to 1. I have to break into the water lines from the hot water heater in my bodega anyway, so I might as well have the luxury of at temp water for the R.O. Unit.

I've now bought the unit ($24).. and I have enough spare copper and the tools laying around to do the work... So, I'll break into the sheet rock in the bodega and have at it!!
