Hi Larry, you may let them get to wiggler stage prior to moving them to a breeding tank. Defending the cone/fry helps to cement the pair bond.

Good idea Pat, will do that, will still get their breeding tank setup and ready to go, have a seeded sponge in the tank for the breeding tank so can get the tank aerating and ready to go.

Thank you Bud, these probably will not survive as they are still in community tank with 7 other discus, but if all goes well they will have wigglers and I can move them into their own tank.

Yes I am excited to see how this goes, always nice to get fish from another hobbiest and grow them out and have them breed for you. Has been an interesting journey for sure.

You will do well Larry. It is a lot more fun for me if they will raise the fry. At least you have breeding activity. My santarem are showing no signs of breeding yet. Keep us informed on your journey. Exciting.

Check them this morning and we have WIGGLERS! Little less than half the eggs actually made it, but that tells me we have a pair and they both are defending them.

Already done, divided it today so hopefully they are less stressed. :drummer:

Yeah Tom am very excited, the ones from Hans started today also, but they laid them and then ate half of them already.

Ok today was the day the babies went free swimming and looks like they all attached to mom and dad, will post a picture later, they are so tiny. :)

I know Tom its the wonders of raising fish. Sometimes its good and sometimes it not so good.

My pair took several tries before any fry and then ate the first batch at about 1 week due to not being a big spawn or the pairs drive to breed again .
Having another is very nice !
Keep an aye on both they should keep trying till they get it right ..
Breeding fish is fun and like a contest to me sort of . If you never lost winning would never be so great . Hoping it just gets better for you . That is what we all usually hope for ...

They range from an 1-1/4 - 2 inches standard length. Measured 10 of the ones I could catch, will post some closer shots of them in the tank later on tonight.
