Hi All

Discus newbie here (but 20 years with fish).....just wondering what your best suggestions are for tankmates for Discus.
I know everyone says cardinals and I'm not averse to this, but just looking for the advice of the group for alternative shoaling fish...
Tank is 50 gallon and will only have 5 or 6 discus so plenty of capacity....

Thanks in advance

Paul

For that size tank are you sure you want tank mates? If so not to many. Maybe some corys and a school of rummie noses tetras. Qt any dither fish before adding to your main tank. Qt for a month. So if just starting qt your new discus in the main tank and your dither fish in a different tank. Just seems many dither fish come to you sick. Last thing you want to do is add sick fish to your main tank. Next where are you getting your discus from?

Ahh...that's perfect thank you!!

I've no discus as yet as only 6 weeks into cycling the tank - I want it to stay stable for another 2 before I introduce fish.

I UK based by the way, Scotland to be precise

I can say from direct experience that Corydoras trilineeatus will not survive discus temperatures. Many other corydoras species would work fine, except for C. paleatus.
