She's been with me for 15 years. I rescued her from a vacant lot in Fowl River AL when I lived there. I rescued both of us when I left there and moved home to my land in Mississippi. She is the last dog I have alive that made that move with me.

She won't be with me long. She's had a heart condition for years but finally, despite the meds she's either coughing or sleeping. Her little lungs are clear. Her heart has grown so large that it's putting pressure on her trachea. It's so sad.

My heart goes out to you.
I am sorry for the loss you will soon face.
A dogs love may be the purest love a person can ever experience.
I can only speak for myself, but I know I am a better person for having had animals in my life.
God bless.

Hugs Liz, sorry to hear about Tink. You are both lucky you found each other. Enjoy her while you can and she will tell you when she is ready. We are facing the same situation with our lab Belle. Dogs do not live long enough. :(

I honestly don't understand how people can go through another heartbreak after the first pet. I am still shaken forever from my previous cat's death. Worries me to my core for my future babies almost makes me not want to get another pet. My hugs for you Liz

All of y'all have been very sympathetic. I'll make the decision tomorrow. It's so hard. I have to do the best for the dog, not for me.

Shan, I could never live without dogs. I suffer every time I have to make this decision. But when I see a thrown away dog I think that God is telling me to take care of it so that's what I do.

That's really sad but I think we all know she's had a good life. It's never easy. I was forced to put my boy Jack to sleep a few years ago. If he had not been in extreme pain or the condition was treatable, I wouldn't have done it...
