Hello,
So I purchased some two new discus to addition to my Pigeon family. I received one Pigeon Leopard and one Pigeon Chekerboard, but Chekerboard started loosing it’s markings of red and white. I was told this is because of hard water, but my KH is 4 and GH - 6 degrees. Should I lower it even further?

These are two pictures attached, one is the moment I bought her home and other is now, aprox two months later.

Any suugestions and insights will be highly appreciated!

In addition I’m adding Pigeon Leopard photo, I think he looks very cool! :)

Best wishes everyone, Raimis!

Got to say that’s strange! I’ve got 4 that went the complete opposite. Your is starting to look like a rafflesia.133281. This is now. 133282this is when I bought it as a rafflesia. Go figure!! I never heard it had anything to do with water hardness.

Sad, but true. Another reason to buy from Simply Discus sponsors.

All the Asian Discus farms use hormones. The only way to get non hormoned fish is to buy domestically bred fish. German fish used to be unhormoned but I'm not so sure any more.

Mine was from a sponsor. Think it’s just Asian discus. Still it grew into a huge fish!! :).

Thank You guys, but I think the red ahould wash out, as hormone treatment is over not white. And it is the white that is dissapearing and turning into red.

The first two photos are of the fish that is turning red, and the third is just another fish - Pigeon Leopard that has no problems, just wanted to share the picture with you guys :)

I think what I got is Refflesia Discus. Because I think if it was fed hormone feed, after I got it it should loose red, not red to appear over it’s body. I also feed high astaxanthin feed so maybe it is too much for this fellow?
