Due to unforeseen events I will be leaving Middle East and unfortunately there is no way to take my discus. I have to leave behind my discus tanks :(( I’m really desperate about it. I see some stories there, but still don’t know you guys handle it.

Anyway I want to thank all of you for support and sharing your great experience is over last few years!

I will miss them :( every single one our of my 20+6 crew

I have some separated threads about both my discus tanks, but here collection of my best photos

What the time frame? Are you moving back to the states? Are you looking for shipping licenses? Or are you just not allowed to take them?

I would love to take all the discus with me, but it’s close to impossible to have export approval.

What are you going to do with your discus? Is someone going to take them for you?

Luckily I have found a trusted discus keeper, so I hope they will be fine there

Beautiful fish, I know the feeling you're feeling. Due to unforeseen circumstances I had to give up mine several years ago. IT SUCKS! I miss the daily fishroom routine everyday. One day again I'll have another fishroom and more Discus and large bruiser cichlids.

I can commiserate. We now spend much of the summer in the west. It's nice out here, but I miss the 1.5 - 2 hours in my fish room every morning. I have auto feeders going and an expert discus person checking my fishroom on a regular basis. Still, I'm looking forward to going back around Labor Day.

I couldn’t have an empty room .. no tank no fish, so I’m back :)

Stand, Sump and tank are ready. I need to set up everything together. I have already made few improvement comparing to my previous setup (like rolling matte instead of socks in a sump).

That's going to be a nice setup!

thanks .. I took a lessons from the previous setups. E.g. in the previous one I was very limited to number (and type of plants) which can grow in the pure sand. Here I did created an island with a proper substrate. Hope it would stimulate plants growth.
Still I wanted to have a big swim area with sand, so discus could find by their 'puffing' a food in sand.

Great to see you back! Like everyone else now waiting to see what you put in it! Looks like a lot of anubias and Java fern in there.

Yes … plenty of anubias and Java. On top of regular nana or barteri I found also Anubias heterophylla and hastifolia, which is a way bigger than barteri and should be a nice background. I have also a cute a. gracilis variant with a different shape of leaves. On top there are quite a few variants of Echinodorus from smaller types like grass (tenellus), bigger magdalensis some marbel queen to big amazon swords (bleheri) and amazonicus. Lastly few lotos, as I loved who they shoot aerial leaves.

It would be a little bit an experiment to see which types will survive high temperatures and what would be a sweet spot of nutrients.

So far looks like plants are doing ok and producing a lot of oxygen… I saw oxygen steam in fast growing plants, but today anubias surprised me with that …134072

BTW I would need to change a topic from “devastated” to “exited” about a new tank ;)

Finally, I got them. I went with 11 Weissflog each around 5".
I will shoot some better pictures when they get use to a new tank 134295

I agree with Tom. The Discus are excellent quality. Along with the beautiful aquascape and school of dithers make for the perfect picture.
