The stuff on the inside of the glass, that is. Seems particular to discus. I wipe it off at every WC but it’s always there. Doesn’t seem to change with different foods, either. Any way to minimize it?

I think it's just bacteria. I wipe it off and the bare bottom also about once a week or 10 days.

Discus may partially shed their slime coats on a regular daily basis - this may be an indication of less than desirable water quality, or some irritating bacteria, i believe. Check it out. Discus owners generally wipe this off daily, or at least regularly.
Apparently, no real harm is being done to their slime coats is my understanding.

A couple of BN will cut the amount of biofilm dramatically. Biofilm...Yum!

Young BN's will, but the big ones just wait for the food.

I've never noticed that to be the case, Willie.

Maybe I'm overfeeding?
