Vitamin C tablets for removing chlorine and chloramine

I recently read on a YouTube video that Vitamin C tablets crushed and added in aquarium storage water will remove chlorine and chloramine. Is this true.

yes it is true.

Look up Cistern Maintenance on USDA website. Says add x amount of bleach to the cistern to keep the harmful bacteria from surviving, and then add y amount vitamin-C per 10 gallons to the water you pull into a holding tank for drinking and bathing purposes.

The Ascorbic Acid bonds to the chlorine/chloramine creating a neutral.
