I hope some of you have experience with this strain. I bought a couple of juvies from a local breeder and it was told me that they color up as they grow. Only some of them started to develop snakeskin pattern. The others have 14 bars, decent shape and size, but no pattern.

Here's one of them. https://imgur.com/a/8Onz4jp

HI Antonio,
Thats definitely a snakeskin but sometimes they take a long time to color up and pattern up.
You can see that here..

In some of my grow out snakeskins from a cross. Do you know the parents strains?

That fish has nice shape and hopefully turns into a nice adult for you. I would love to see more pics of the ones you got and parents.

They're a cross Snakeskin (male) x Albino Red Cover (female). Both big round discus. Thank you for the reply!

The Red Cover will dominate the color.

So is it possible to have a 14 bar red cover? That was what I was wondering.

I do not think thats been done. Though with all the strains out there it may have been .Most likely you will get is a red snakeskin..maybe some that are more muddy than "red". If a 14 bar red cover were the goal you might have success growing these out and back crossing to a red cover.
