I was walking my dogs yesterday and it was pretty cold out and we found this cat laying in the drainage ditch. At first I thought it was dead, but it moved a little and meowed a little squeak. I didn't want to see it freeze to death so I got it back to my house. It warmed up quickly and began acting like a cat does. It's very affectionate and would serve as a good dust mop. I had someone come over to scan for a chip, and there was none, but she told me this is a Main Coon and there's a good possibility she's pregnant, which may explain why she was so lethargic and near death with I found her.

I posted on FB to see if anyone was missing a cat and no one stepped up so it seems she may have been dumped. There was an empty can of cat food near her.

I can't take in another animal at this time, but the people messaging me wanting her was overwhelming. I vetted potential owners and think I found a good one. A young couple with 2 daughters should be picking her up tomorrow.

Happy ending!!

This is how I found her

Brian,
You are a real saint.. its sad how many people would have walked by that Cat and ignored it.

You are a real hero. :)

As a former owner of a female maine coon much like her I am really glad you found her.

A bit of good news. After filtering through over 200 messages from people wanting her, I finally talked with a Main Coon expert. She told me these cats have unique requirement with regards to food and such, and she has offered to foster her until the owner or the perfect new home can be found.

I think my dogs will be upset because now they have nothing new and interesting to look at and explore in their lives, lol...

She is a real beauty. It sounds like you placed her in very capable hands. With all the negative news out there its so refreshing to see something good. NICE JOB BRIAN!

So happy you found her a excellent situation Brian :) We had a Main Coon cat once. His name was Oscar and he was a huge orange tabby in color with white crest and paws. He was a super nice cat. He lived until he was 18.

Beautiful cat I had a cat that looked just like that she managed to live for 19 years no special diet until she was old and did not want to eat reg cat food. Nice job Brian, us cat lovers appreciate the gesture and hopefully she will be well taken care of.

In all the communication I've had in the past few days, everyone said Maine Coon's are incredibly friendly, smart and loyal. I never thought of a cat in terms of "loyal" hahaha... Every time she ventured out of her room, it she looked like a little lion walking through the house. The gal who scanner her said she may be pregnant, so with a little time to prepare, I have have a young one in the near future...

Nice job Brian. I too had a Maine Coon. Great cat and big. Also seemed to live forever. Got it from a shelter at 8 yrs old. Nobody wanted him cause his age. I had him for 10yrs. Yes got along with all of us. They do need brushing or they get matted.

They do need brushing or they get matted.

Yeah, that was the only reason I passed on her. With all the remodeling projects and inconsistencies in my work schedule I didn't feel I had the right conditions to properly care for her...

Mine was with me 15 years. She was a shelter cat. .. of all my cats she was truly the fishroom guardian... greeted all the visitors back then...

Lucky cat. That's a home I would be just as happy to be adopted by.
