Hi, been running a new filter dosing 10 drops of Ammonia a day (4ppm) and gone in 24hrs but never seen any Nitrite, been running for 4 weeks now, do you think I missed the spike or not cycled yet?

Are you seeing nitrate?

Yes up to 50ppm did a water change and still no Nitrite? makes me think the test kit is no good or I missed the spike.

If you have nitrate you have to have had nitrite.

Yep. Steve you either missed it or your kit isn't working.

Or there's nitrate in your source water.

Steve, Are you using straight tap water to cycle the tank?

If so..

You posted your tap water has 30ppm nitrates

That means you should have some nitrite bacteria working.

I would hit the tank with about 2 x the ammonia and do some time point measurements over a 24 hours to see where you really are in your cycle

Yes tap water with 30ppm. When I tested for Nitrate was 50ppm so changed the water with tap. Was thinking to put some 0 Nitrate water in so to test better. Only using a small tank to run the filter maybe less than 20l. If I double the 10 drops from 3/5 ppm Ammonia to about 6/8ppm then would it not stall the process?

I don't think so..its just one day to see if there is a nitrite spike.

So this morning added 20 drops Ammonia to take it to 7 ppm and now 2 ppm 10 hours later. Tested fo Nitrite every 2 hours and 0 ppm Nitrite. Nitrate is 80 plus.

That tells me your nitrite kit isnt working... you can't have a spike in Nitrates without ammonia first becoming Nitrite.

Got the new test kit today and yes got Nitrite 2ppm test again in a couple of hours.
