Wierd Blue Ram behavior?

I know this isnt discus related,but i am watching my rams spawn and they are doing something wierd. After each pass of eggs bieng laid the female will swim to my air stone and fill up with o2.then scurry back,in the mean time the male fertilizes and when the female comes back he then runs to the air stone for a breath.furthermore when each returns to the spawn site they release the bubble.Anyone know what this behavior is? ???

As far as I know Rams are substrate spawners. I had some spawn inside a flower pot for me once...

Mine wasn't spawning when the female did this, When I used to have air bar, she catched the bubbles and charged all other fish...and buubles would come right after she charged them and she did all over again.
