Hello Today I got a ornamental root for the Discus tank.It says it has been sand-blasted and to soak before putting into the aquarium.Would this be ok or would I be better to boil it.

Even if it is ok to soak it, it is always better to boil it.

My usual practice for roots/wood/etc would be to boil vigorously for 1/2 hr, then soak in a 10% bleach solution for a day, then boil again, then soak in plain water for 2 weeks. This will kill anything on the surface of the wood and will do a good job removing any tanins from the wood.
