Well I am wondering if this is the oldest blue diamond. Eight years ago he was a real knockout. Now he is showing his age, notice the droopy fins, ragged around the edeges. Still eats and gets along with the others, but I am afraid he is past his prime. Havent tried geretol or viagra yet but he is not intrested in that anymore. So lets have a vote: Let him die a natural death. Or put him down. Dark Discus may want him, as that brownish grey is his natural color now a days. K.

Like all the animals that have fought and come out alive, he deserves to die by gods hands and not anyone elses. Let him live.

I suppose let him die by old age if there isn't anything like diease plaguing it. As long as he isn't suffering, I say let him live out his life. :'(

Sad indeed to see a once great fish turn that way, but one can't beat nature.

Cheers,

Chi.

If he is not suffering let him go naturally. He diserves it.

I'd so the same with him as though he were one of my dogs or cats. As long as he's eating and seems to be in no distress let him live out his days. When it becomes obvious he's in distress put him down. I bet your vet would have no problem selling you a drop of euthanasia solution. That's all it will take when the time comes...one drop on the gills. This info comes from my vet who did euthanize an 8 year old discus for a guy last year. He cried. The fish was his buddy.

IMO - Sounds like this guy is ready to be put out to pasture. By that I mean a nice big community tank with a few other old fish. Something that size always looks nice cruising around.

Kevin,

LOL... Just 'cause my screen name is Dark Discus doesn't mean I collect geriatric fish!

I would think that you would keep him just out of loyalty to years of enjoyment provided. Plus maybe you want to see how old you can get him!

Let us know what you decide.
