View Full Version : The Use of NatuRose?

HI,

I read about NatuRose with a lot of benefits (seems no Side effect). I keep 9X blue diamond ,4Xred turk and 2 alenquer in my 4 feet tank. Should I seperate them when I feed them with NatuRose added hamburger? Or otherwise the blue diamond will perhaps turn to purple diamond?

Although I am new here but I really like the people here. You all are warm hearted in helping each discus lover with no discrimination of which strain discus. I am sorry about Cary leaving us although I didn't know him. I wonder why the experienced expert quit one by one not only in states but also in asia? In my home town, many breeders (both prof and amat) quit. The turnover rate are quite high--A myth. But many thanks to those who devote themself to discus for giving us varieties of discus to choose from. Salute! :'(

I am sorry if I express myself wrong because of my poor english but I am always regret when someone so experienced to leave the discus forum.

Wo, welcome to the forum. Cary is a wonderful guy with a great deal of knoledge and im sure he will always be around to help those who need it. As to your questions with the nutra rose i think it wouldnt do any harm to your blue fish at all. If you do get a purple fish you can sell them for alot of money. I hope we hear more from you and other asian breeders and hobbyist in the future.

The flesh underneath the blue scales will turn pinkish. You'll see a pink/peachy color at the base of fins and the lips. It can be kind of attractive actually.

Hi

Thanks for replies. Now I wonder what is the difference between naturose and hormone in the way enhancing the discus color? Carol says that feeding the discus with naturose can be seen by their pink lips. How about hormone? How to distinguish the hormone injected one and the naturose fed one? Because I would buy the one with naturose but not hormone. You know, the hormone injected discus are often seen in asia and the hormone injected one often die without any sign or cause.

Happy New Year!

Wo,
I'll take a stab at this, but I may be a little off as I have no experience with horomones or Naturose, but just second hand knowledge. I guess that adult fishies' colors are controlled by horomones in their bodies. If they inject these horomones into young fish, then it will bring out the adult colors at a very young age. What this will do, however, is stunt the fishies' growth and will allow for only a very short lifespan. Naturose, on the other hand, is an all-natural coloring. When put in food, it is consumed by fish, and then it in turn colors the flesh/skin of the fish. Naturose will wear off over time (and I beleive horomones will too????). Basically, Naturose is safe for your fish and horomones aren't.

Thanks BranDC:

So I decide to buy naturose and use it on my marlboro fries. Is it OK to feed the naturose with fries of 2 months old. Can I feed to the BBS and then feed the fries? Thanks!

Wo, As I see it , the Taiwan Discus production has taken a downturn for the following reasons:
1. Lack of new development in new strains in Taiwan
2. The Japanese economy ha sput strains on all Asian discus
producing countries.
3. The Taiwan economy is also in a free fall
4. Minimal export from Taiwan to Europe and North America
( non-global marketing )
5. The flowerhorn ( Lo Hon ) has displaced the discus in
many hatcheries. I feel this is temporary due to the
easiness in breeding and falling market value.

Naturose ( astaxathin ) will make the finnage and lips of the Blue Diamond pinkish as Carol has said. Give it to the snowflake and see what happens----Looks like the Pink Panther. Some competitors use hormones for show fish in mild doses. This is unacceptible to many others--myself included. Most competitors will use Tetra color bits and they will color up the fish nicely. Best Regards, Joe

Hi enchanteddiscus:

I agree to what you point out the situation of Taiwan's discus. Just these few days, some of my discus friends talk about quitting on discus keeping. As a matter of fact, the number of specialist workshops/breeders are 1/2~1/3 of the number five years ago; due to the reason of no new strain, less top quality, the upcoming of Singapore discus, most of all a global depression ....etc. I quess in a few years even the mainland China will be the major dicus exporter in asia. Many famous Hong Kong breeder move there for a better chance.
As for me, I am a amature in discus keeping once quitted(sometimes, I am really down when my discus get sick) now I am back again. Just can not resist the attraction of discus. I quess some of you share the same kind of feeling. In this field many poeple walk in and out. Some take a break and get back, some never quit. Most of them won't leave forever. For me, once keep them, always love them.

Arpanlib, Freshwater and Marine Aquarium. IMO, If you can get your fish to eat them-------freeze dried brine shrimp are only slightly more nutricious than newspaper unless you add liquid vitamins. Joe
