Here they are Pril.....well two of em anyways. I rescued 4 in total. the other two paired off and I just put them in thier own tank an hour ago.....they were still a bit freaked out so I didnt get any pics of them. They are very similar though..all 4 are a solid 6" to the base of the tail. The only down side is two of them have yellow eyes, not my favorite eye color....but hey whadda ya want for 22 bucks each??
;D ;D ;D ;D

HI Tony,
Not too shabby at all for a LFS ! I like the red eyes on the second one. How big are these fish...They look really thick! The first one looks like it would win a fight with a oscar! :)

off question...

whats all that green growing stuff in that tank?LOL ;) serious question though.

that better be background pic tony...you havent gone to the dark side did you?

12-08-2002, 11:53 PM
No worries guys....I would NEVER drift over to the dark side. Its just a background...didnt have anymore blue stuff. ;D
Al....they're all 6" standard, and thick as a brick. You should see those two go at it....all hell breaks loose in the tank.

I got em from "the discus graveyard" Pisces. Where discus go to die. They actually had 5 in total.....but the 5th one had huge pits in his head from HITH. He was the largest of the 5, a real brute. I went back on saturday.....he was jet black and hidding in the back of the tank....wont be long.
I must have gotten them just shortley after they were dropped of....they hadnt had time to do any real damage.

poor fish....dont you feel bad now tony? you couldve of fed him worms and cured him.
can you go hit the pisces guy on the head for me? and tell him to wake up and look after the fish?

12-09-2002, 09:50 AM
He was cured Pril....the scaring was nasty though. REALLY nasty!!
I havent bought fish from them for a couple of years...really poor quality for the most part...plus when they get sick(everytime) they dont have a clue....they dont listen either. They actually get quite offended when offered advise.
I dont normally even go there anymore....I was buying hamster supplies for my kids and thought I'd just have a quick look....glad I did.

you got lucky man!! That place is a nightmare!!!!! You are so right about the advice part. I drop in there when I feel like rattling someone's chain!! Do they still run those big bags of peat on the little discus?
When I was there in August all the discus looked like crap, but to them they were healthy, when I asked to see them feed and the fish wouldn't it was because they were scared. I had to laugh as they were huddled in the same corner dark and didn't move as I watched them for 20 minutes.
Has riverfront cleaned up any? Most of the fish I seen there were also in very poor shape!!!!!
Good score for you though!!!!

Tony,

Congratulations. For $22 those are a steal. Of course it sounds like from that LFS description that they had better sell cheap or they won't be selling at all!

If they can't do right by the discus, why can't they stick to unkillable fish?

Good luck with those two!

Tony, you didnt rescue them you stole em ;D. I agree with Willie. You could easily double your money by sending them here. Rich

yup!! They still have the big nasty bags of peat in the tanks. As for the discus huddling in the corner of the tanks.....they dont give a rats ***....as long as they can sell em before they croak....they're happy :-\

Riverfront.....still pretty nasty for the most part. He imports from Malaysia....He lots of problems with disease when they come in. He's damn good at getting them back on thier fins though. It suprises me most of the time. He almost expects it now I think. Most are B grade...and the A grade when he gets em in are waaaay over priced IMO.
The Arrowana's are awsome though...if you wanna take out a second mortgage on your house to buy one!! :o LOL!!

Tony
Oh ya....the have the biggest freakin clown loaches Ive ever seen also.....easy 12" long :o :o

I will keep you updated.....the Pair is still pissed at me. The tank I put em in is way to low to the ground. I knew better when I put em in there.....Im famous for not listening to "that little voice". ;D Gotta find em a new spot.

Thanks for the imput. Tony.
It saves me time, going from fish store to fish store; wasting time....
Hope the 4 make it. I'll have to drop in for a coffee some time.
I've asked this question before; is there any reliable breeders/hobbiests/suppliers in Calgary ???
