My second favorite fish. It's a colorful and great schooling fish that loves discus water (not a surprise since they share most of the same areas of the Amazon).
They have been bred in captivity, though I've never tried. All the info says that it is very difficult to breed (which is what fish keepers say when they don't know what conditions are required). Also there are 3 (or 4) different fish sold as rummynose and they are hard to tell apart but may have different breeding requirements.
Some likely triggers are:
Peat colored water, pH of 5 to 6.5.
Very, very soft water, 0 to 3 dH
Temperature change
Live food, they will eat blackworms
Use a heavily planted tank, pull the parents after egg laying, and cross your fingers.
