hi,
just wanted everyones opinion in what type of water does your discus breed.

my discus are in a community tank and they pick pairs from there. i have to lower ph to 6.5 to get them started breeding.

my discus breed in ph 6.5
TDS 350 mg/l

after this they are shifted a much softer water, with the same ph.

has anybodys discus bred in waters of ph 7 and above???

i would like to know in what type of water your discus breeds.

Mine are breeding in pH of 7.8. They really do like to eat the eggs so I don't know what the viability is yet.

I'm bringing down my pH too, so I don't think I'll ever find out unless someone on here can tell me.

At my house tap is pH 7.8, GH 11, eggs layed, never hatch (no black eyes).

With 50% RO water pH is 7.6. GH is 6
Females have layed 80 - 100 eggs, most all are fertilized, none fungus, 70 - 80 hatch into fry (plenty for me). Newest batch will be 4 weeks old tomorrow.
