when do the parents tend to darken up? and what strains tend not to change much?

Parents will darken up even laying eggs. They stay kinda dark while tending eggs on cone and especially dark when fry start to free swim. Pigeons, and white fish like snowflakes do not carry near as much dark pigment and you may not notice any change. My big yellow PB male turned more orangey. I think Blue Diamonds turn dark blue (kinda navy) Discus with bars like red turquoise can get very dark - almost purple black.
