Does anyone know where I can get oxygen for shipping fish? Does oxygen come in any other form other then from a tank? Does it come in a pill format?

Welding supply is your best bet.The do sell concentrators that you can order. Medical o2 is available by perscription only. O2 is only in gas form,no pill available.

Cary,
Do I really need to pump O2 into a bag of fish for shipping overnight? Can I just blow into it to fill it up? ;D

Do yourself a favor, Mark. Use the O2! Frank
Mark,
If you want to ;D
You would be better off trapping the o2 in the bag then blowing in carbon dioxide IMO. If this helps at this time of the year you can get away with out! useing o2 if the fish is small and water is very clean and little off is used to ship.
MAN! what are You guy's on tonight?
GIVE ME SOME ::)

I sent big heckels but just about 7 or 8 hours without oxygen. and they did fine. but i used an airpump to pump in the bag. a fish air pump. not blow in it.
id use oxygen overnight...id be worried sick.

I've been burnin rods for a couple of year's now. My work decided to make it official!!! darc the welding man!!!! Anyone need a welder? I can clean tanks real good also!!!!
darcy
Paul, The only difference between Medical grade O2 and welding O2 is the tank used must have only contained Oxygen and nothing else to avoid contamination and yes it is also more expensive.
Mark, The local welding supply can rent you a tank and it isn't very costly. Shipping without oxygen is risky because the fish can get brain damage due to oxygen depletion causing a lack of oxygen to the brain. This is what happened to me.Hydrogen Peroxide is an oxygenator, but i have no idea how much to put in a bag of fish. Water does not hold oxygen well at all especially with the higher temps. Remember to use heat packs with a hole punched in the styro. Heat packs works on available oxygen and will have a short lifespan without the hole. HTH, Joe ;)
"This is what happened to me"
Hey Joe, I've always wondered....now I know ;D ;D ;D
