Can moving discus from a relatively low pH to a relatively high pH alone cause them to increase their breathing rate and turn dark?

I have heard that going from low pH to high pH isn't a problem for discus, but a very large change could be a problem. Try adding salt at 3 tbs/10 gallons. Are you sure the water was at the same temp?
