resting breeders?

Just have a ? about the time you need to rest your breeders or if you even have to do this? I have read that a pair can produce fry every 8 days but was wondering if I should remove them from the breeder tank during this time to rest them or if I should just leave them in the tank and let them spawn again??

I just keep them in harder water so the eggs don't hatch.

Carol,
Since my pair have just spawned and gotten quite worn down, do they naturally wait before spawning again? How do I harden the water to slow them down, and how long should they rest, if at all.
