View Full Version : How much is too much?

Hey Guys and Gals

It's been a while sinse I've posted ::) I've been really busy.... anyway, I have a question ;D

I have this pair in a 150gal community tank with 6 other Discus , this is their 2nd spawn the first spawn were wigglers and I had to leave town on a hunting trip and lost those :-\ (not sure who ate them ) This being the second spawn looking fertile ;D..... how much water is safe to change without killing the eggs ?

They seem to be very protective parents :bounce2:

I plan to move them to a 30gal breeder..... how long should I wait? Is this a play it by ear thing for you breeders Cary,Mike, Brew anyone?

This is a pair that formed of Wild Green x Blue Diamonds that I recieved from Cary ;)

TIA

Hi Beth
Nice to see you posting, and great looking pair.
I personally change 10% water a day after eggs are layed untill the fry are attached, this lets me clean the bottom.
Wht not try a divider and see how this spawn goes.
Good luck
Dennis

Hi Beth, I agree with Dennis, and Cary, and if they are protective- i would get them into their own tank for the next spawn. Good luck, Frank

Beth, the fish look great! I have successfully moved wigglers by transferring the breeding medium into a 29 gallon tank after transferring 100% of the water from the tank they spawned in even if the 29 is not completely filled. As long as the eggs are covered. HTH, Joe :D

i've always used my 22-.250 teamed with a leapold vari-x III 3.5x10x50

it's an awesome rifle, shoots very far, extremely accurate and does some nasty damage...interesting thing though, never find a bullet, they dissinigrate :o

mike :o :o :o :o :oWOW :o :o :o :o
i've only seen a rack like that twice in my 10 years of hunting (while hunting that is) and never got a shot off at either. last one was two years ago, day before opener, i had a bow checking out my new stand placement and an 8 point came struting through about 70 yards out...considering i had my brothers bow and hadn't shot one in more than a year i decided to let hime walk by in hopes of seeing him in the next week, no luck.

haven't had time to muzzle load, living in the city now it's too hard to find time to run 3 hours up north to hunt and return for work, plus i've got my fish to worry about....so i go once a year for a solid week rifle hunting and hunt the holidays..thanksgiving and christmas if possible.

glad to see fellow simply members bringing home some food!!!
