View Full Version : Fry free-swimming and attached ;)

01-10-2003, 02:57 PM
There's at least 50 of 'em that are attached(to the male) and feeding off his slime....for the most part they don't much care for the female...the female is a red-spotted diamond snake, and the male is a wild red santarem...
it's difficult to get a good picture(the ones i've taken so far are awful!!) i'll try and snap a picture again later... ;D

Thanks to everyone who've helped me reach this stage. ;D ;)

Congratulations!!! Another graduate from the School of CEESOB. Good work David. patience and lot of TLC finally pay off. Now you can register and enroll the pair for the School of fry raising.

actually mom must've started producing slime cos they were on her like white on rice when i got home this evening....hahahaha
i'm not nearly out of the woods yet, but it's nice to finally get some fry attach....there's nothing quite like watching all those fry stuck to the parents and schooling around ;)

i just took a look in the tank and the female has laid eggs on the heater...hahaha....
i wasn't home so i don't know if they were fertilized....how do i make them stop and raise the fry??? lol

i heard scrape the eggs away..or in a very short time those fry will be dinner . maybe their not happy with their 40 fry and want more. keep an eye out..
their rather anxious arent they?

Way to go David congrats, now the fun begins lol :) :bounce:

thanks for the comments all...

april, i think(i'm guessing) that the female is fairly young still...she tends to be "ready" to lay eggs again often while the fry are still in the wriggler stage...the male on the other hand seems to be a much better parent....maybe it's the "wild instincts" taking over...
ok....well, she basically just swam away as the syphon hose came down, and ignored me....it wasn't really alot of eggs...
fry are attached to both parents today, and the female is a little darker... ;D

I've still got 50 or more fry, and they seem to be feeding off both parents equally now...the female must've started producing slime...here's another picture from today...

David . fantastic. if she doesnt do well..you can pull her and let him carry on.
keep an ey out they dont get in a custody battle.

David, Congrats! Joe :D

David,
CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!
Do not be affraid to pull either one of the parents incase they get into a custody battle as April said.

Miles :)

hopefully they choose to have their "custody battle" (if it happens) while i'm at home-i'm usually gone 2-3 days a week...thanks for the advice :)
it's a shame that the male seems to be the better parent-i've got a female alenquer that he's spawned with successfully(wigglers) before, who doesn't have a spawning partner...
