hexamita transmission

hi, i recently had a fish with hex and i was wondering how hex is transmited from one fish to another.

I've read that all discus carry hexamita in their gut, but it does not become a problem unless the fish is under stress due to poor water conditions, bullying or other factors.

True Carol, they all have some. It's mainly transmitted through ingestion of fecal matter, so keep those bottoms vaccumed especially during treatments! Some fish have cronic hex it seems and don't respond well to any number of treatments with metro or how perfect your water params are etc. These guys won't last long.
