For the people doing "tap" water exchanges, (lucky enough that your water is good for discus right out of the faucet), do you warm the temp up to your tank level by mixing hot and cold? or do yourun it right in?

hi big league.

Well i used to run hot and cold mix right out of the tap, set at the tank temp. Until i found out the tap water contained chlorine. Not good for the fish.

So now I run cold tap water into a barrel (or onto the floor at times by mistake) age it over night to remove chlorine, and heat it also so that by the next day it is heated to around 80 degrees. Then it goes into the fish tanks.

Does your water have chlorine or chloramines? If so you should not run it straight to the fish tanks.

If your water is safe right out of the tap (without aging) then 1) I'm jealous ;) and 2) I guess it depends on how cold it is and how much % water you are changing in each tank.
