Floating Hydrometers

This may not be about discus, but I just wanted to know if the floating hydrometers that are sold in stores, made out of mercury? Thanks

yes they have the base of mercury.
they have the temp. on the bottom and the salinity reading at the top.

but i prefer the neddle hydrmeters, i mean the box type.
works great for me.

yeah and to get am acurate reading with those "old fashion" hydrometers the water surface needs to be still. the sea test hydrometer always worked good for me.
