This article was in today's Miami Herald. The only reason I mention it is because of the discus tailstanding thread from the disease board a few weeks ago. This is just some excerpts from the article. The whale was found stranded on Friday A pygmy sperm whale died Saturday in Key Largo, Fl. Before death the whale went verticle. Preliminary findings of a necropsy indicated heart failure was the cause of death. Preliminary findings [are] of a high-level of parasites in the stomach and a severe congestion of the liver, spleen and lungs which would be consistant with heart failure said a veterinary pathologist at the University of Miami. I also want to say that some of these things do happen in the wild, not just in out tanks.
