You must use Metro, not dimetro with CBW! Frank

Yeah I use a regular metro mixed with live CBW or soak frozen bloodworms for 5 minutes before feeding. Tried DiMetro with live CBW once--dissolved them into a white mess in less than 5 minutes!

Hi,
I have used the CBW with Metro and also used them with pipzine. (not at the same time)
The pipzine works against some internal worms.

I usually let the worms on a newspaper for about 15 minutes to dry a bit, then put them into the solution of 1 cup dechlorinated water + either 250 mg Metro or 1 capsule pipzine. I let them in the solution for 3 or 4 hours, then feed. I did learn this from Cary at Great Lakes Discus, so I give him the credit. ;)

Hi Ardan:
How many days/times do you feed the cbw soaked in metro and soaked in pipzine?

OK ,
Whats a CBW ? I don't even think we get em down here though all you talk about is CBW. (Cultured Black worm) is the closest I can guess at...
No ref to it on acronym. and doing a search here gives me no other clues....

We get Blood Worm, I was thinking maybe Canned Blood Worm....

I give up.

I med with blood worm does this count?

:P :P

Soaked CBW in Metro. 1/2 dead after overnight soaking. I likely placed too much of the abx.

Hi Carol,
I have done that as a precautionary once a month. I would watch for any abnormal feces. Never saw any , if I had I would have continued until it cleare up (all worms out)

Also used it once a day with the Metro, when I had a sick fish, for several days.

Hi Rich,
Only soak them for 3 to 4 hours. Yes even then some seem to die, but my fish ate them.

Hi Ardan:
Thanks for the info. You worm with pipzine every month - all ages?

hi Carol,
I alternate, one month metro, one month piperazine. I have been doing it since mine were about 3 inches in size. (I have missed a month or 2 ::))

Doing that type of procedure are you not concerned your fish will build up a resistance to your medication.

That is a good question.

I don't really know the answer, but I feel that the benefits outweigh the risks. JMO
