My pigeon blood and scarlet red r growing more n more black pigment on their bodies, just want to know if such pigment could be removed or minimized??? I tried to search for information regarding this issue but to no avail.

Thanks for the Great info, my tank's bottom is filled with pure white fine sand from the beach, I have no background at all, my tank is against a white colored wall. I learned that pb may prefer light background from wat links u have provided, but I still cant figure out the problem cos my background is definitely very light n even bright n shiny....

I think pigeons are born with peppering and it appears lighter or darker depending on conditions. IF you have a light background and they are happy and healthy the peppering (like stress bars) is hard to see. IF the discus are sick or stressed the peppering is very apparent. Peppering on Discus from the same brood can vary tremendously. Look at the discus closely before buying and pick ones with the least peppering as youngsters. Peppering does not go away with age. The dots may lighten, but are still there.
