View Full Version : Update of brown fries
Hi,
These are the brown fries-1 month from hatching, I am giving to my friend on the weekend. This suppose to be a souvenir pic. I did not feed them 6-7 times a day. Perhaps they are a little behind.
Hi,
They are 4.5 months old now. The bars are still on them. Perhaps they will never disappear. Even they are b grade san merah I still love them very much. They are the healthiest discus I ever keep. They eat so much within a few minutes and grow quickly. They are now 2.5-3 inches now. The color are not as deep as shown in picture because I use the fl light.
The picture above are more like their original color. They only show some orange color now.

You have them all in the same tank with a divider. How big of a tank is it? I've never seen thermometers like yours. they are very easy to read.
Hi Carol,
The tank are 90cm*45cm*55cm devided into two tanks and made by the aquarium on my request. Because the old tank is over 10 year but the wooden rack still function so I just replace the tank. Yes, the thermometers are very easy to read but I am going to find out if they are as accurate as they look.
Have a very nice weekend!
nice pics

I think it's safe to say that those are no longer fry! They look huge for their age.
Thanks Raj.
Thank BranDC:
You just point out the question that bothers
me a long time. Could anyone tell me at what age to call "wiggler", "fry" and "juvenile"? Thanks for bring up this. Because I want to learn the exact meaning. Thank you very much!
Yes, I guess they are are the most healthy fries I ever bought.(45 days old when I bought) But a sad thing is that the 1 out of 8 san merah I bought now is a stunt. He is only 1 inch large. But the other 7 are really willing to eat at any time. My own hatched fries eat only a little. I wonder what make the difference?

Wo,
Wiggler refers to the eggs that hatched on the cone and are still attached and wiggling. They become fry when they become free swimming. I don't know when to call them Juveniles, but my guess would be that it is when they would stop feeding off the parents in the wild and fend for themselves.

Hi, Brad:
I learn something new today. I have mistaken the free swimmer as wiggler and 2 months old as fry. I want to ask months ago. Thank you very much.
