Hi all , I’ll appreciate if you could share the tips and secrets on how to induce the pair for spawning, my PB pair doesn’t show any interest in breeding, female is showing her tube since last 13 days she is around pvc pipe most of the time, water temp is 82 ,TDS 70 ph 7.1 gh3 kh2, feeding them b/h, Earthworms, cultured mosquito larvae, thanks for your help. 8)

Sounds like your conditions are right. Has this pair spawned for you in the past?

Have you tried switching her with a different male?

Consistant major water changes seems to work for me... But I cant stress consistancy enough in both quality of water and daily changes...

keep things constant for a while and then change something. Like leave the light in the tank off for a week and one day do a big waterchange and turn the light on. That's induced my fish to spawn many times.

This may be contrary to what is commonly stated....
The way I induce spawning is by not feeding my pair a few days and not changing water for a few days. This lets the pair settle into the water and be comfortable with the environment. Then the pair just spawns!

When I constantly change water, my pair does not even look at each other.

I like to keep mine at 84f. What makes mine spawn is to skip a water change for 2 or 3 days. Then do a 80% water change with good aged water. Scrub the tank down and clean it real good on the big water change because if they are like mine they will lay that night. Try to keep a lot of current out of the tank before they spawn and feed well a couple weeks before you plan on spawning them.

I do a 90 percent water change and drop the temp a few degrees. works well.
