Hi all , in my blue SS spawns most of the eggs get fungus, or very low hatch rates, this time only 5 wrigglers out of 80 eggs, I had seen male gave passes but very low hatch rates, pair is with me since last 18 months , spawned lots of time but no luck ,IMO water is not right for breeding.
following is the water analysis of tap water: calcium 30ppm/ magnesium 17ppm/ sodium 38ppm / potassium 8ppm/ chlorides 50ppm /sulfates 64ppm /silver 0.002ppm /TDS 220 / ph 7.9

R/o water ph 6.9/calcium 0.41ppm/ magnesium 0.25ppm/sodium 5ppm/potassium 2ppm chlorides 11ppm/sulfates 9ppm/silver 0.008ppm/TDS 9ppm

Now what shud I do, use straight r/o water in breeding tank after aerating it for 24 hrs or to use buffer for re-generating r/o water, first of all commercial made buffers are not available here so I have to find some home-made buffer recipe, I saw one on net from Joe (enchanted discus) calcium sulfate 3 grms ,calcium chloride 1 grms and mag sulfate 1 grm for 20 gal r/o water. will this work for me ? I shall be thankful if you could guide me in this matter. What about the ph will it remain there at 6.9? or I have to add dilute HCL for lowering it

Thanks for giving your time for reading this

Have you tried 25% tap water and 75% RO water? That should lower TDS to 62 with no need to add any minerals or acids.
