Real nice looking fish. How old where they when you got them. How much color did they have when they were young?

HI
That fish looks like a cross between a white butterfly and some other fish. or it could be just young butterfly.

Diz,
I think that fish was between 2 and 3 months when I got him/her. The orange has steadily dissipated in favor of white.

Butterflies are pigeon-based whites, not to be confused with the snowflakes which are derived from brown discus. In all of the pictures I have seen of white butterfly juveniles, the fish appear to be orange with white striation that slowly turns more solid over time. So young white butterflies may not appear white, but more pigeon-based. The pepper also shows up very heavily on the white and may not be desireable, so see if you can find a source for "clean" white butterflies.

PS - White pigeons are my favorite discus and so I've done my research :)

White butterfly Juvy..... Shape not so good but one of my favorite. I received the fish when it was only 2".

Same fish few months later. As an added note: I think I read somewhere that White butterfly is a combo of blue diamond and PB but dont quote me on that.
