Furazolidone has been used to control intestinal Hexamita infestation on large scale, notably on trout farms. In this situation, Furazolidone is normally added to the feed at 50-70mg/kg of fish per day for seven to ten days. It may also be used as a bath treatment to control some of the sign associated with neon tetra disease. It may be that the drug is in fact controlling secondary bacterial infection rather than the causative agent of neon tetra disease.

Hi,
Usually it is used as an antibiotic. I don't know that it is effective against flagellates (hexamita).
