A tip I assumed most people knew until I asked around. ???

When you want to place a tight fitting flexible hose or tube over the end of a rigid pipe (like for a siphon tube for example) cut the end of the pipe (or flexible tube) at a 45 degree angle. It makes it much easier to get the two pieces together.

You can also heat the tubing in boiling, or just hot water or even heat over an open flame(VERY carefully) It makes it ALOT more flexible.

Hi Tony.

Yes, I do that also from time to time but find that for the most part, the angled cut is quicker and avoids the chance the tubing might be damaged by the heat. Not to mention burning my fingers ;)

Another trick is to wet the end of the tube with rubbing alcohol before assembly. It slides on much easier still and is non toxic to the fish.
