Hi Everyone ::)

I was in the process of getting my 5500 gal above ground pool ready for the Discus when I came across these nasty little creatures :o

http://images.snapfish.com/336%3C275923232%7Ffp66%3Dot%3E2327%3D%3A49%3D858%3 Dxroqdf%3E2323384%3C369%3A7ot1lsi

Any idea how to get rid of these ? ..... By the size I'm guessing they're bullfrogs.

Beth...their very cute. but costly to feed....unless they eat your little wigglers...from angel fish or something.
send them to cary.but tell cary to keep them away from our canadian border. their devouring all the nice frogs .
or.buy an oscar to feed them to.

I think they are cool. I had one a couple years ago. Now he is a frog and lives in the pond happily.

buy an oscar to feed them to.

No Oscars for me :P I guess I'll have to ship them to Cary ;D

I was wondering what was eating all my guppies in the ponds :o

I have a question, How can you tell the difference between a tadpole and a pollywog? ;D
You have a 5500 gallon pool set up for discus, now that is dedication, what do you use for a heater? Cummins Diesel?

Hugh,
I think a polywog has legs. You know, almost a frog...

Beth,

Those tadpoles were in the pool? Try to get them all out, or they might grow up to interfere with the experiment fish!

An adult bullfrog could likely eat an adult angelfish!

an adult bullfrog are capable of eating baby ducklings!!!
o.k.so how much shipping is everyone paying for these freeloader bullfrog tadpoles? and when they grow up? then what? if released.....more problems....there'll be a national story in every newspaper that Beth shipped bullfrogs all over North America to continue the bullfrog devastation... no more cute little leopard frogs...etc.
better keep scanning that pool for more...Beth.
Do you guys have herons down there? they'd enjoy some tasty morsels out of that pond...how about a nice net covering?

Hi Beth,

I totally concurred with April. By shipping them around, there is always a chance of them wrecking havoc if where they are going to have no known predators. We all have heard that story before.

I say keep them where they are, better safe than sorry.

Just my two cents.

Cheerio,

Chi.

Hi Beth the best thing to do is give them to someone who has has big fish such as arrowanas, oscars, lungfish, snakeheads.THey will be used as feeders.

april, Your critters sure start early up there, around here (NY) it's still to cold.. Those have to be a few weeks old already!!!
anyway they woun't hurt. in this stage they eat algae but in a few weeks watch out !! I think they don't eat "meat" until they leave the pool????

Beth,
No prob's about BullFrogs around here, they are actually pretty common in Illinois. I just don't want to wade through the muck to catch my own......

Let me check about the shipping.....
