Dorsal Fin question

I have six 4" - 5" discus in good health living in a 45 gallon tank. They are approximately 3 years old. Two of my fish have in the past 3 months grown a point approximately 1/2" long off the back of the dorsal. I have never seen this before and was wandering if anyone could clue me in on what it means.

That seems a little delayed but perfectly normal for a lot of strains.

My Blue Panda has a point about 2" coming off his dorsal and my females have about a 1/2" point...

It's an adult characteristic that is usually more pronounced in males. If you bought a 29 gallon, cycled the filter and stuck a couple in you might find you had a pair.
