Plywood tank question

I am thinking about building a large plywood tank but don't relish the idea of multiple layers of epoxy, paint or fiberglass. Do you think it's possible to build the tank structurally with plywood but line the inside with a thin plexiglass to make it waterproof? The plexi could be siliconed to the plywood inside and joined together with epoxy in the corners. Would this work? What problems do you envision?

The thing to really consider is that glass lining would be superior to acrylic if using silicone to seal, But it is expensive. For example the stand in the image attached is the size of a 65g allglass tank.the cost of 3/8" glass to line it was 10 dollars higher than the cost of the 65g allglass tank i ended up buying to put in it, now the one i am building will be epoxied on the inside.
