Shape, eye, pattern - gorgeous! What is the difference between the scarlet an crimson . . . color intensity or shade?

Hi Carol, Scarlet is classified as Leopard SS (Leopard X) and Crimson is a Spotted SS (RSG X). Both their parents are from different line...Scarlet possess a much bolder spots while Crimson possess tiny little spots. Another thing is that Scarlet had high body and Crimson will be rounder...HTH.

Cary, the development of spots really depend on how strong is the spotted gene of the parent hood...two AAA spotteds may not produce the best fries. Its sure depend on their progeny and some LUCK...Artificial colour feedings will do more harm than good. I'll suggest that you try feeding natural high carotenoid food to your discus at a young age than to pump them with artificial enchancer at later. Secondly, Spotted that possess Leopard gene tends to be complete earlier at about 4-4.5". This applies to my Scarlet Spotted...As for my Crimson, they'll only be complete when they're about 5-5.5"...HTH.
