Need Deworming Info Please

I recently heard about deworming discus. Being relatively new to this hobby, I am clueless about it. What is used to deworm? How often are the medications used? Are some for certain types and not others? What are signs a discus has worms? External are easy to spot of course, but internal? I have a batch of discus I bought at lfs a bit back that have just never gotten up to par in health. Water changes out the wazoo and good food, but they just are a bit off. Wondering if perhaps deworming would help them.
