It could mean lots of things. Probably just something small floating around in the tank has come in contact with the fish. Or some courtship???

Hi Franko....

Are there any feces hanging when you noticed this flicking motion?
I've noticed mine will use their pectoral fins to cut the feces when hanging :o

It's a thought guys..... Don't Laugh ::)

Beth,

I installed little toilet paper rolls. Stopped the discus from using their fins. ;)

;D Hehe, funny ........... yeah you know i'll check for feces when they flutter,,,, maybe its like flicking something away from them that tickles or bothers them like floating food or feces yuck. I wanna flick it away too... but with gloves on.... (lol, im stupid) anyhow i'll watch closer. No worries its kinda cool when they do it.
