metro rids/kills the hex in the discus but is it still in the tank??????? ??? ??? ???

When we refer to hex here we are usually taking about intestinal flagellates that live in the intestines of discus. Generally all discus carry these flagellates in their gut in small numbers. When discus are stressed or ill the flagellates get the upper hand. Metro knocks the numbers back to manageable levels.

You know how people have e-coli bacteria in their stomach all the time, but can get very sick if food is contaminated with large numbers of the bacteria.

So yes, it's there, but it's OK in small numbers.

I'm with Carol I think small numbers of them are always present. .........................................ps Carol e-coli is found in our intestines not our stomach....... sorry it's the nurse in me comming out!! :)
