I have read and seen the link posted on this forum regarding the link between Co2 and KH/Gh and Ph

but its all double dutch to me im thinking of adding Co2 to my system Ph 7.6 Kh 1 Gh3 how does the co efficient work does it go off bubles per sec or some other method in order to minimise stress to fish what levels would I need to put into the tank bearing in mind it is 1.5w per gall ...

(I have not got a Co2 unit yet I am just realy trying to get my head around the affect Co2 has on the Ph)

:)

As C02 is injection into water, some of it reacts with water to form carbonic acid. Acid lowers the ph.

There is more to it if you want!

The bubbles per second is just a way to monitor the amount or flow of C02 injection.

The kh part of it is the 'buffering capacity'. This will indicate at what rate the ph will shift as C02 is injected. By measuring your kh and ph, you can derive the level of C02 in the water. If you have low kh, injection just a little C02 will affect your ph a lot. The opposite works if you have a high kh! This means that at a high kh, you will need to inject a lot more C02 to obtain a ph of under 7.0!

This page http://www.csd.net/~cgadd/aqua/ has an excellent article on understanding the pH, kh, co2 relationship.
